Our mission to democratise art doesn’t stop at publishing editions and collaborating with museums, publishers and galleries across Europe to offer an accessible selection of artworks. We really want to bring art into your life, and believe the best way to engage with art is to encounter it on a daily basis. That’s why we commission and set up various art in public space projects and mount occasional pop-up exhibitions.
While the future Kanal-Centre Pompidou museum in Brussels is under construction, the installed scaffolding is a perfect place to launch a new series of artworks in the public space. FAÇADE is a series of 1400 m2 commissions on the showroom of the old Citroën garage. We invite artists to create works that create a unique conversation with the city for a period of six months each. The FAÇADE series is co-curated and co-produced by Kanal-Centre Pompidou and artlead.
Billboard Series is a on-going sequence of site-specific art commissions on 50 square meter billboard located in the former industrial port of Ghent. The area is currently in full development to be reconverted into one of Ghent’s new quarters, and so we invite artists to create a work that fosters a productive dialogue with the constantly changing surrounding neighbourhood and urban landscape.
Billboards Kortrijk is a series of presentations on a large billboard in the public space at Budabrug in Kortrijk. The aim of this project is to introduce a wide audience to different visual languages and ideas about very different aspects of public space. Billboards Kortrijk is set up in collaboration with Be-Part Platform for Contemporary Art and 019
