General

Are all artworks on artlead original?

Yes, all artworks offered on artlead are original. They are either unique artworks or limited edition artworks produced by the artist.

What is a limited edition artwork?

A limited edition artwork is an artwork produced by the artist, or under direct supervision of the artist, in a fixed limited number of copies. These limited editions are produced on the understanding that no further copies will be produced at a later stage.

Limited edition artworks are normally signed by the artist and numbered to show the unique number of that work in the total edition size. Occasionally the work itself is unsigned, but comes with a separate certificate of authentication.

Are all artworks authenticated?

Yes. Unless specifically noted, all artworks are either signed and numbered on the work itself, or come with a separate signed and numbered certificate of authentication.

When will my order be shipped and delivered?

Shipping and handling processes depend on the specific characteristics of the purchased artwork in regard to preparing it for shipping, as well as its origin and destination.

Generally speaking, all orders are shipped within ten working days, and although often shipments are sent out faster, sometimes it also takes more time.

Once the purchased artwork is shipped, you will receive an email with the shipment confirmation and a tracking number, allowing you to follow to artwork and see when it will arrive.

How are the shipping & handling costs determined?

Shipping costs are determined by the size, weight and insurance value of the artwork, the seller’s origin and the buyer’s destinations. The additional handling cost is determined by the producing partner and covers the material and time needed to professionally prepare your order for shipping.

To estimate the shipping cost on your order, add the desired artwork to your shopping cart and enter your shipping destination on your cart page.

Do I have to pay import taxes and duties on my purchase?

Besides shipping & handling costs, additional taxes and customs duties may be applicable for shipments being imported or exported from the European Union. These are not included in our shipping cost. Can I pick up the artwork myself, so I don’t need to pay for the shipping?

Some partners allow pick-ups, but unfortunately, not all of them do. If you are at the checkout and the pick-up option is visible, you can use this without any additional charge. Each artwork can only be picked up at the location of the partner that is offering it for sale, so please look carefully where the artwork is located before choosing this option. If you choose this option at checkout, we will contact you to set this up.

How does the pick-up option work?

Some partners offer the option to pick up the work you acquired at their reception desk free of charge. If you choose this option, we’ll get in touch with you to help you set this up.

Please note that you can only pick up the work at the partner you’re buying the work from, and not at any other partner. We unfortunately also need to set a time frame for this pick-up. We agreed with our partners that buyers have a maximum of two weeks time to come and pick up the work. If you think you won’t have time to pick up the work in the next 14 days, please postpone your purchase.

Can I combine multiple items into one shipment to lower shipping costs?

Generally speaking, multiple items cannot be combined into one shipment because the items are shipped from different locations. If you’d wish to order multiple items produced by one partner, please contact us.

Do I have to sign for my package at delivery?

Yes, all artworks are sent through professional carriers using insured shipping and should be signed for at delivery.

What should I do if I receive a damaged item?

For items damaged through shipping, please contact us with your name, item name, order number and a photograph and description of the damages. We will work with you to replace your purchased artwork swiftly.

Can I return an artwork?

Due to the partner structure through which artlead collaborates with museum, art institutions and galleries worldwide, returns are a delicate and difficult issue. Because of this, all sales are final.

However, as stipulated in European Regulation SI No. 484/2013 concerning consumer information, cancellation and other rights of distance contracts, if the producing partner is established in a country of the European Union (plus Iceland, Norway and Lichtenstein) and you as a buyer are a resident of one of these countries, you have the right to return the purchased item within a period of 14 days from the date of the reception of the order. No reason for the return is needed. The return shipping has to be done in the same way as the purchased item arrived – that is insured shipping through a professional carrier – and is at the expense of the buyer.
