curated by Rinus Van de Velde
(artist)
Considered to be one of the most promising young artists in Belgium, Rinus Van de Velde initially developed a practice around monumental, narrative charcoal drawings. In the meantime, he started making films, sculptural installations and small, delicate drawings in coloured pencil. And most recently he started working on a series in oil pastel. All his works tell an open-ended story, which is part of an imaginary autobiography. For artlead, Rinus Van de Velde made a selection of his favourite artworks, stating “this is what I’d buy if I had an unlimited budget.”
