Thomas Struth
°1954, Geldern (DE) – lives and works in Berlin (DE) and New York (US)
Over the past three decades, Thomas Struth has established an international reputation as one of the leading contemporary artists working in photography. Picturing subjects as diverse as empty city streets, crowded museums, places of worship and sites of advanced industry the different bodies of his work relate to each other like an extended family, gradually evolving over time. However, all are underpinned by the same rigorous formal approach to the medium. Struth’s photography has built an analytical corpus of the globalized society that characterizes contemporary civilization.
