about Navid Nuur
The work of Navid Nuur is based on phenomenological experience. He commonly attributes transformative properties to found objects, thereby repositioning their function, meaning and impact in ways that provide viewers with a whole new experience. Whilst often sculptural in form, Nuur’s works are neither sculptures nor installations. Nuur rather uses the term ‘interimodules’ as he considers them “temporary module-like works that feed off each other when they are together”.
Navid Nuur has had numerous solo exhibitions, including shows at Bonnefanten Museum, Maastricht; Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; and S.M.A.K., Ghent. His work has been shown in several major group exhibitions at venues such as Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; and Marta Herford Museum, Herford. He also participated at the Bienal de la Habana in 2015; and the 54th Biennale di Venezia in 2011.
