For a few years, Hannah Lees has been working on an ongoing series entitled Tablets. These plaster tablets comprise beachcombed findings from riverbanks and various beaches from around the world.
For artlead, Lees made a special series of tablets. She walked the beaches around her hometown Margate for a year and gathered objects in the sand and between the pebbles. These walks for beachcombed findings resulted in 12 tablets – one for each month. Every tablet brings together objects she found in one specific month, cast in plaster. In some tablets, the plaster is coloured with natural dyes to reflect the changing light in those months.
