Philippe Vandenberg explored the most extreme dichotomies of human experience, resulting in a body of work of raw urgency that provokes a range of complex emotional responses. In his late work, he often pushed the use of language to an extreme, creating hundreds of works on paper saturated with enigmatic words and phrases in French, English, German, and Spanish, continually being repeated in numerous variations. 'Un Grand Amour Suffit' is a central motive in these text drawing.
