{"id":3908,"date":"2021-09-16T12:28:06","date_gmt":"2021-09-16T10:28:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/artlead.net\/?post_type=product&#038;p=3908"},"modified":"2022-03-03T14:10:54","modified_gmt":"2022-03-03T13:10:54","slug":"martin-boyce-no-brilliantly-coloured-birds-2009","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/artlead.net\/nl\/product\/martin-boyce-no-brilliantly-coloured-birds-2009\/","title":{"rendered":"Martin Boyce &#8211; No Brilliantly Coloured Birds &#8211; 2009"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Martin Boyce developed this large scale unique print as part of his<em> No Reflections<\/em> installation for the Scottish Pavilion of the 2009 Venice Biennale.<\/p>\n<p>Continuing Boyce&#8217;s interest in the \u2018collapse of nature and architecture\u2019 and interior and exterior forms, this print references the empty wooden interior of the artist&#8217;s bird box sculpture in the vacated Italian Palazzo; the holes in which simultaneously suggest the form of a head or mask.\u00a0During the development of this project Boyce drew from a short text he had written with an abandoned zoo in mind: \u2018warm dry stone and palm leaves, no elephants, no giraffes, no penguins, no brilliantly coloured birds\u2026\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>This language of an abandoned garden is continued with the text &#8216;No Brilliantly Coloured Birds&#8217; that tumbles out across the image. The form of the text stems from a central structural motif that forms a core of much of Boyce\u2019s work.
