about this work

Michael Fullerton’s limited edition The Gold Bride was produced on the occasion of his solo exhibition at S1 Artspace, which presented newly commissioned work by Fullerton alongside a personal selection of historical works from Sheffield’s City Collection. The image of The Gold Bride is taken from an oil painting by British historic painter James Sant which forms part of the Sheffield’s City Collection and was also featured in Fullerton’s exhibition as a large-scale nine panel screen print.

about Michael Fullerton

°1971, Bellshill (GB) - lives and works in Glasgow (GB)

Michael Fullerton explores the transmission and reception of information in its broadest sense. His materials and methods often refer to the tools and technologies of communication, such as newsprint or analogue recording, while his subject matter relates to the institutions and individuals involved. Fullerton’s various works appear to share little aesthetic common ground, ranging from models of the rods and cones of the human eye to portraits in the tradition of eighteenth-century English painting. But they all relate to the processes involved in the dissemination of information.
