Where to eat and drink coffee when visiting Art Rotterdam?

Going to an art fair can be tiresome, especially when you try to combine your visit with some exhibitions around town. Sometimes it’s necessary to sit down, unwind and enjoy a good cup of coffee or a late brunch, reflect on the things you’ve seen and plan the rest of your day. We know from our own experience that it’s not always easy to locate the good places in a foreign city, so we listed some tasty options around Rotterdam.
If you’re looking for a good cup of coffee, try Hopper Coffee or Lilith, both conveniently located at walking distance of Witte de With, TENT, Museum Boijmans van Beuningen and Huis Sonnefeld. Both places also serve small snacks. Try Bertmans for breakfast, lunch or brunch. They serve amazing food, mostly vegetable based. It’s probably a bit out of the way of where you are going, but worth the detour.
If you’re looking for a place to have a drink after your visit, we highly recommend NY Basement for cocktails and food. Located in the basement of the famous Hotel New York, at former head office of the Holland America Line, this place offers a unique pre-war Manhattan atmosphere. Just across the bridge from NY Basement is another two places we’d like to share with you. De Matroos & het Meisje is small and cosy table d’hôtes, the neighbouring Vislokaal Kaap is a little rougher and more straightforward. These are most definitely the best places to eat fish in Rotterdam.
