about this work

Induction Base (2015) is a still from the video, which is part of The Sick Man of Europe: Dor Guez's most ambitious project to date. It reflects on the military history and current political climate of the Middle East through the creative practices of individual soldiers from the region.

ICA London has produced the limited edition print Induction Base to accompany the first UK institutional solo exhibition The Sick Man of Europe by Dor Guez in 2015.

about Dor Guez

Israeli artist Dor Guez is photographer, video artist, scholar and founder of the Christian Palestinian Archive (CPA). As an artist of Christian Palestinian and Jewish Tunisian descent, Guez is considered a leading and critical voice from the Middle East whose practice questions contemporary art’s role in narrating unwritten histories. As such, his work relates directly to his artistic strategy of repetition and storytelling in re-evaluating accounts of the past.

Dor Guez's work has been the subject of over 20 solo exhibitions, including shows at the KW, Berlin; The Rose Art Museum in Boston; Tel Aviv Museum of Art; and the Jewish Museum, New York.

His work has been shown in several group exhibitions at venues such as Palais de Tokyo, Paris; Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography; and Maxxi Museum, Rome. Guez also participated in numerous international exhibitions and biennials including the 8th Berlin Biennial in 2014; 12th Istanbul Biennial, Istanbul in 2011; and the 3rd Moscow International Biennale, Moscow in 2012.
