Sebastian Stumpf

°1980, Würzburg (DE) – lives and works in Leipzig (DE) and Berlin (DE)

As shown in his photographs and video installations, the interventions of Sebastian Stumpf in public spaces are ephemeral and serial, acrobatic and comical. Stumpf is an actor without an audience. In contrast to the urban flâneur, Stumpf explores the city, questioning the relationship between body and space through bodily engagement.

Sebastian Stumpf has had numerous solo exhibitions, including shows at Wilhelm-Hack-Museum, Ludwigshafen; Museum für Photographie Braunschweig; and Museum Folkwang, Essen. His work has been shown in several group exhibitions at venues such as Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati; Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, Berlin; Frankfurter Kunstverein, Frankfurt/Main; and Kunstverein Leipzig.

He also participated at the 6th Festival for contemporary photography at the Spinnerei in Leipzig in 2014 and the 6th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art in Berlin in 2010.
