June Crespo

°1982, Pamplona (ES) – lives and works in Bilboa (ES) and Amsterdam (NL)

June Crespo's practice is characterized by an experimental use of image-reproduction and by the exploitation of these images in graphic and sculptural installations. She approaches sculpture from a broad perspective, producing objects that are situated in the margins of the assembly, collage and photography made without a camera. Crespo rather composes images through scanners, photograms and xeroxing.

Somewhere halfway between the surrealist object trouvé and the logic of the tinkerer as described by Lévi-Strauss, Crespo’s work originates from an affective-assosciative aproach to collected materials. She draws objects and images out of the system of production and consumption in order to jeoperdize their associative potential and stimulate their ability to generate new meanings through various forms of estrangement, appropriation and re-contextualization.
