Isabelle Cornaro

°1974, Aurillac (FR) – lives and works in Paris (FR)

Isabelle Cornaro employs painting, sculpture, installation, and film in her quest to challenge the way viewers perceive reality, dictated historically and culturally. As such Cornaro plays with the aesthetics of both everyday objects and artworks by integrating them formally or conceptually into a new context, with great sensitivity to texture, material and colour. Cornaro is an art historian specialized in sixteenth and seventeenth-century Western art, therefore her work is strongly associated with the forms and compositions from the past, ranging from the baroque or classicism to modernistic abstraction.
